Welcome to the SJKC P1 Maths Video Channel
We are currently developing videos for non-Chinese speaking parents who need to help their children with Maths in Chinese for Standard 1 in a SJKC. The videos will be in English with translation in Chinese with pinyin of the most commonly used keywords or terms to help you and your child understand it from the viewpoint of someone who is learning Chinese as a second language with English as the first language.

VIDEO 1: TABLE OF CONTENTS
Description: The first video outlines all the topics your child will be learning in P1 Maths in SJKC. This is the table of contents of all the lessons or topics that will be covered during the year. All headings are in English with Mandarin and Pinyin translations.
VIDEO 2: COMMON TERMS USED IN EXAM QUESTIONS
Description: Understanding the common terms used in exam questions will help children understand the math questions and therefore be able to do them in Chinese. Quite often children perform poorly because they do not understand the questions, not because they lack knowledge or do not understand math concepts. This video is to help non-Chinese speaking parents help their kids revise for Math test by introducing the important keywords commonly used in exam questions.
VIDEO 3: UNIT 1 ON WHOLE NUMBERS BELOW 100
Description: This is the first Unit of the Standard 1 KSSR Semakan Syllabus on Maths For SJKC. Important keywords and terms used in this chapter is translated into English and pinyin to help the non-Chinese speaker guide their child in Math in Chinese homework or revision for tests. Keywords include terms like compare, big, small, biggest, smallest, more than, less than, equal, before, between, after, arrange in order (ascending) or reverse order (descending), place value, digit value and rounding to the nearest 10. All of these terms are useful to know when learning whole numbers below 100.
VIDEO 4: UNIT 2 ON BASIC CALCULATIONS
Description: This is the second Unit of the Standard 1 KSSR Semakan Syllabus on Maths For SJKC. Important keywords and terms used in this chapter is translated into English and pinyin to help the non-Chinese speaker guide their child in Math in Chinese homework or revision for tests. Keywords include terms like add, subtract, how many, altogether, remaining, the difference between, more, less, compare, and more.
VIDEO 5: UNIT 4 ON MONEY
Description: This is Unit 4 of the SJKC Mathematik Standard 1 KSSR Semakan Textbook (Jilid 2) Pg 9 - 24. Common keywords are covered including the words and classifier for ringgit and coins. The characteristics of the notes and coins, The video is bilingual in Chinese with pinyin and English translation. Best viewed with Unit 2 to do basic calculations with money.
