Time flies. It is now 2022 and time for the kids to go back to school. Here are 10 things to know about back to school 2022.
1. Back to school kicks off on 9 Jan 2022 for states that observe Friday and Saturday as weekends and 10 Jan 2022 for all other states
2. Students may opt to wear neat attire instead of school uniforms if they have outgrown their uniforms
3. For primary school, P1. P2. P6 will no longer be on rotation while P3, P4. P5 will continue with rotation between physical classes and online learning
4. For secondary school, Remove class, F4, F5, F6 will no longer be on rotation provided >90% of the school population has been fully vaccinated whereas, F1, F2, F3 will continue with rotation classes
5. It is not considered a disciplinary offence if you give a written letter to opt out of attending physical classes
6. The Ministry of Health has given conditional approval of Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine for kids aged 5 - 11 with a lower dosage of 10mcg as compared with the 30mcg for adults
7. The Third term 2021/2022 school holidays will be from 25/26 Feb 2022 to 20 Mac 2022
8. Chinese New Year festive holidays will be from 30 Jan 2022 to 2 Feb 2022 for schools which observe Friday and Saturday as weekend and 31 Jan 2022 to 3 Feb 2022 for schools which observe Saturday and Sunday as weekend.
9. Masks are compulsory for all students on school grounds while primary school pupils will undergo a mandatory Covid-19 tests on a rotational basis every Wednesday. (*subject to any changes from the authorities).
10. The new academic year will begin on 21 March 2022 Some parents will be sending kids back to school in January, some in March while others will wait and see. No right or wrong here, just different circumstances in each family requires a different approach. Whatever your decision, stay safe and take care.
