Will students be returning to school in September? This is the most frequently asked question in our parents group. Let's have a look at what has been announced so far.
1. Schools in Phase 3 of the NRP (National Recovery Plan) will return to school in stages in September.
2. Schools in Phase 2 of the NRP will start with exam students (eg SPM/STPM students) returning to school first.
3. Schools in Phase 1 of the NRP will continue with PdPR (Homebased teaching and learning.
So what states are in Phase 1, 2 and 3?
Currently, the states in Phase 1, 2 and 3 are as follows:
Phase 3 = Labuan, Perlis, Sarawak
Phase 2 = Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Penang, Sabah
Phase 1 = all other states Currently, only STPM students will be vaccinated and the rest will have to wait for further announcements. The number of serious cases is now the new indicator for transition from one phase to another rather than the number of total cases. There is no reverting of phases once you advance to the next phase. This is the situation as it is right now. However, things are quite fluid and may change. So do keep your ears on the ground for any new announcements from the ministries of education, higher education or health.
